Measure all the way around - taking the tape around the narrowest part of your waist. Try to keep your tape measure level. Gilbert shorts are elasticated so there is usually a bit of room for movement in either direction. Size up or down according to preference for a looser or tighter fitting short.
It is always suggested that you measure more than once as your posture changes when you move and sometimes affects the measurement you take.

Nice athletic shorts, I just use them for running in general. I like that they are 100 percent cotton and the elastic band is wide.
